On the way to a new goal

After promotion to the Betinia Liga for the 2026–2027 season was secured a few days ago, AB Gladsaxe are chasing a new goal when the team takes to the pitch at Nord Energi Arena in Hjørring tomorrow, Sunday 17 May 2026 at 1:00 PM.
Waiting on the pitch is Vendsyssel FF for a real top-of-the-table clash, as first and second in the CampoBet Liga go head-to-head. AB go into the match full of confidence after promotion to the 1st Division has been secured. Now AB are aiming to hold on to 1st place and thereby win the CampoBet Liga in the 2025/2026 season.
AB most recently lost the home match against FC Roskilde 2–1, but HIK’s win over Næstved meant that AB will finish at least second this season and take one of the promotion spots.
Vendsyssel FF, who have really been strong and picked up plenty of points this spring, are in 2nd place with 57 points. AB are in 1st place with 62 points. Vendsyssel FF won their most recent match 2–0 in Thisted.
Vendsyssel FF also won the latest match against AB in April, 2–0 at Gladsaxe Stadium. Vendsyssel FF were physically strong on the pitch and put AB under pressure.

To ensure a fairly played match, referee Patrick Remon Gammelholm has been appointed, assisted by linesmen Mathias Madsen and Aidin Esmaeli.

Søren Ilsøe says the full focus is now on finishing No. 1: “We’re ready for tomorrow. We’ve talked about how we now need to finish the season. From the start of the season, our goal has been to finish first in the league. That’s what we’re going all in for. Even though we’ve of course celebrated promotion, we’re going for the win against Vendsyssel.”
“We enjoyed ourselves after promotion was secured, but over the last few days there’s been full focus on Vendsyssel. The match we played against Vendsyssel at home, where we lost, we weren’t happy with.

Against Roskilde in the last match, we created so many chances and we just needed to be clinical enough. So I think we’re looking really good for tomorrow,” Søren Ilsøe concludes.

Head coach Fannar Berg Gunnolfsson says everyone is motivated: “We have a tough away match tomorrow against Vendsyssel. We lost to them a few weeks ago at home 2–0, and we were definitely not happy with our performance in that match. We’re very motivated to correct the mistakes that were there, and we’ll go out with lots of energy. We’ll work to make it uncomfortable for them to play. We need to control the match so we can play on our terms. We need to make sure we disrupt so they don’t have those options,” Fannar Berg Gunnolfsson concludes.
