Akademisk Boldklub have signed center back Mikkel Brund to a 1.5 year contract extension to June 2028.
“Brund has the ability to help our team in multiple positions, and his presence in the locker room is valued deeply. He’s always ready to step in where needed, and that’s something we as coaches enjoy working with on a daily basis,” said Head Coach Fannar Berg Gunnólfsson.
Brund, 23, has been used in a variety of roles during the 25/26 season where he has made 18 appearances and recorded 3 assists. Brund has been used as a left back, defensive midfield and a center back.
“Mikkel has shown great development in his time with us,” said Sporting Director Jen Chang. “He’s able to play 3 different positions very effectively and is also hugely impactful in our training culture and everyday environment. Any team would benefit from having a player with that type of character on the squad.”
Brund was originally signed in January 2024 from Hobro IK II. He was a product of the Randers youth academy where he was the Randers U19 captain, making 60 starts. He made his Superliga debut for Randers on 7 March, 2021 against Lyngby.
“I’m very happy to be staying at AB. The fans, Skovdiget, the stadium, and everyone in and around the club all help make it something truly special. The club has been on an incredible journey since I arrived, and of course I hope it continues when we move into the 1st Division after the summer. I look forward to seeing AB create memories at the level where we belong at a minimum. We owe that to the club — and especially to our fantastic fans!” says Brund.
