Now it’s getting exciting – HIK await in Brøndby!

Tomorrow, Saturday, March 7, 2026, the CampoBet 2nd Division resumes, with AB Gladsaxe kicking off the spring season with a match against HIK.
The incredibly harsh winter has meant that the match cannot be played at Gladsaxe Stadium. It will therefore be played at Brøndby Stadium “1964 Park”, Brøndby Stadion 30, 2605 Brøndby (pitch 2) at 4:00 PM – note the changed kick-off time.

The match against HIK will be the first of a total of six matches remaining in the regular season, with the last match at home against VSK Aarhus on April 6, 2026.
HIK finished the autumn season in November with a 4–1 win over Vendsyssel FF. AB finished the season slightly better with a 5–1 win over FC Helsingør.
HIK have spent the winter in 4th place in the table with 29 points.
AB, as you know, have spent the winter in an excellent 1st place with 36 points.

AB will of course do everything they can to hold on to 1st place. The winter preparations have been good, and AB have played some really good friendlies. That has resulted in one loss, two draws and three wins. Not least in the final friendly against Brøndby IF’s strong reserve side, which ended in an impressive 3–1 win.

But friendlies are one thing – it’s something else when important points are on the line. So we’re keeping our fingers crossed that AB are fully sharp when match referee Niclas Gomes blows the whistle to get the game underway. The team are, in any case, 100% prepared.
The first meeting between the two teams in Gentofte in September ended with a 4–0 win for AB. The goals were scored by Jonathan Mathys, Marco Ramkilde (two goals) and Alfred Horup.

Over the winter, HIK have added former AB player Alessio Alicino to their already strong midfield. HIK have also prepared for the season with a training camp in Cyprus.
Going the other way, Milan Silva Rasmussen has joined. He most recently played for HIK and was also the team’s top scorer.
So it will probably be a tight and exciting first match of the spring.

Søren Ilsøe says the team are ready: “I’m really, really looking forward to the match tomorrow, and it’s hard to describe just how much you look forward to having points at stake. It’s a completely different feeling, no matter how much you get yourself up for a friendly.
There’s just something special about the first match. Spring is here, the sun is shining, it’s about points. So we’re looking forward to it.”

We’re ready and we’re in a good place. It would be strange not to know where you stand after six friendlies. We have a good picture of where we are as a team, and it’s positive. We’re bringing the same approach that we also had in the second half of the autumn season.
HIK will of course want revenge after the autumn match, and the first match is always a bit special, because you’re not in the same flow as before the winter break. We’ll take the opponents as they come. We need to go out and win the physical battles and duels at the start of the matches, so we get control of the game and can play the football we want to play. That’s what we want against all opponents.”

Football is football, of course, but I would have preferred to play the match at Gladsaxe Stadium. But it’s fine here in Brøndby. We’ve just won here and we’ve had some good training sessions here, and the pitch is really good – so we’re ready,” Søren Ilsøe concludes.

Head coach Fannar Berg Gunnólfsson is looking forward to getting back into action: “Tomorrow is the day we’ve been waiting for. The players have worked extremely hard, and I don’t think we could be any more ready. The players’ attitude is fantastic, and we can hardly wait to play tomorrow.
Our focus is on our own game. We want to press where we can win the ball, and we need to be on our toes all the time. We want to go into the match the same way we have in pre-season.”

Now we play here tomorrow, the first of six matches, and I would have loved to open the spring with the first match at Gladsaxe Stadium. That’s the situation – and we just have to accept it – it’s the same as if we have players who can’t play. We play under the conditions that are there. I don’t think it will make a big difference to the match itself, and we’re all looking forward to it,” Fannar Berg Gunnólfsson concludes.
